We underscored the critical importance of maintaining cleanliness in our environment and public spaces to mitigate the spread of cancerous diseases, as there exists a direct correlation between air and water pollution and food contamination. In partnership with @chanceassociation presided by @dr.roula.farah, SWIM INITIATIVE led the charge to emphasize the significance of nature preservation. A remarkable 285 volunteers, including those from various NGOs and schools such as @acsbeirut @cpfofficial @eastwoodcollegek @mekhitaristschool_rawda @lebaneseredcross @caritas_lebanon_youth @caritas_lebanon @intertectra Construction Company, Foreign entities and SWIM’s dedicated volunteers, united to collect an impressive 8 cubic meters of waste in just 2 hours. It was a wonderful opportunity to bid farewell to 2023 with synchronized swimming that commenced @o_glacee in Batroun, Lebanon, joined by synchronized swimmings, from various cities worldwide. Starting as early as 8:30 am, 30 SWIMMERS gathered to commemorate the beautiful moments of 2023 and cleanse away the year’s adversities. Swimming a remarkable 3 kilometers in the unusually clear waters of December 30th, we welcomed 2024 with high expectations and positive HOPES ! On October 7th, SWIM INITIATIVE marked its 9th event as part of The National Cleaning Campaign #نظف_بلدك, initiated by Minister of Environment Dr. @nasser_yassine. This event was a remarkable collaboration with @las.salinas.resort aimed at raising awareness and addressing the adverse effects of climate change, pollution, and environmental neglect on our ecosystem. A total of 150 volunteers, including Las Salinas families, @starbuckslebanon employees, @lebaneseredcross disaster reduction volunteers, @groupst.catherineanfehh , members from @municipalityofanfeh and SWIM’s dedicated community, gathered in Anfeh at #RasElKalaa #Ta7telri7 to set an example for better environmental practices and shift the established mindset of littering without accountability. Meanwhile, a team of five divers undertook the task of cleaning the underwater area opposite Las Salinas Resort. The divers were taken aback by the huge volume of plastic debris on the seabed. They have committed to conducting additional underwater cleanup dives to address this pressing issue. Our precious NATURE is suffering due to irresponsible human behavior, but together, we can make a difference by acting collectively adhering to the 3 R Rules to #saveourplanet. On Saturday, September 30th, another day dedicated to spreading environmental #awareness unfolded against the backdrop of the National Cleaning Campaign #نظف_بلدك at the stunning Okaibé beachfront, where the #river Nahr Ibrahim gracefully meets the #sea. The event started at 9:30 am, uniting 120 volunteers from @sabis_official @bahaisoflebanon @the.pathfinders.experience.lb Pathfinders Experience, @lebanesearmy_official soldiers, and the ever-expanding community of @swiminitiative. Following a brief but impactful discussion on #environmental awareness and the importance of maintaining a healthy #ecosystem while combating #climatechange our dedicated volunteers embarked on a vigilant #cleanup effort. In just two hours, they managed to collect an impressive 5 metric tons of #waste. To streamline the process, a #humanchain was formed among all the #volunteers, facilitating the transportation of the collected waste to the main road for pickup by the @okaibemunicipality. As part of the #نظف_بلدك National Cleaning Campaign, Swim Initiative organized a #beachfront #cleanup at Hannouche Beachfront in Hamat. The power of community was on full display as 65 dedicated individuals came together! 🇵🇭 The Philippine Embassy, led by the esteemed Ambassador, staff members and their community, joined hands with us. @taqasnacks’ incredible team and their families stepped up. @heartwiselebanon NGO, our new volunteers, made a meaningful impact. Meanwhile, @tourleb the socially responsible cultural tour team, was hard at work cleaning the Ottoman road just above the tunnel of Ras El Cheqaa. They did a fantastic job, restoring a heritage location with historical significance from the Umayyad days to the Crusaders and the Ottoman era. We believe that by forging strong #partnerships with entities that share our values, we can influence mindsets and work towards a more sustainable future for generations to come.
